Twenty-four McLennan Community College student-athletes were honored by the NJCAA with All-Academic Student-Athlete Award for their success in the classroom in 2018-19. A total of 6,656 student-athletes from across the nation were named among the three levels of honorees: First Team (4.0 GPA), Second Team (3.80-3.99 GPA) and Third Team (3.60-3.79 GPA).
McLennan placed five athletes on the First Team, 10 on the Second Team and nine on the Third Team. The baseball squad led the McLennan teams with 10 honorees while the men's golf team had five and women's golf had four. Softball and men's basketball had two honorees each and women's basketball had one.
McLennan's honorees included:
First Team: Levi David (baseball), Caden Harris (baseball), Joani Kohlscheen (softball), Andrew Lane (golf) and Payton Otto (golf)
Second Team: Gabrielle Cleveland (basketball), Ana Enriquez (golf), Emily Isaacson (golf), Trent Leffingwell (golf), Mason Mikeska (golf), Ryan Neitsch (baseball), Madison Saenz (golf), Brett Squires (baseball), Jaylen Williams (baseball) and Jordan Yeatts (baseball)
Third Team: Charley Avery (softball), Creighton Avery (basketball), Brant Bennett (baseball), Alex DeLeon (baseball), Jack Driskell (baseball), Elin Eriksson (golf), Garrett Martin (baseball), Parker Scaling (golf) and Garrett Shaw (basketball)
In addition, four McLennan teams earned 2018-19 Academic Team of the Year Honorable Mention recognition for their team GPA: women's golf (3.62), men's golf (3.36), baseball (3.28), and softball (3.19).
