Highlanders eclipse the Suns

The McLennan Highlanders rebounded from a tough road loss over the weekend with an 80-61 victory over the Cedar Valley Suns this afternoon at The Highlands.

It was all McLennan in the first half. The Highlanders opened with a high-flying dunk from Jordan Skipper-Brown to ignite a 13-0 run. Cedar Valley cut the lead to 10,
15-5, with 14:15 in the first. McLennan responded with an 11-0 run over the next five minutes to extend the lead to 21, 26-5. The Highlanders continued to control the game and held the 42-20 advantage at the break.

Cedar Valley emerged from the locker room fired up, opening on a 10-0 run to pull within 12, 42-30. That would prove to be as close as the Suns would get. McLennan led by as many as 23 down the stretch on the way to the win.

Jordan Skipper-Brown led McLennan with 27 points. Garrett Shaw chipped in 15 points and Xavier Armstead scored 11.

The Highlanders return to the court Nov. 30, traveling to Tomball for a 2 p.m. contest with the Lone Star College-Tomball Timberwolves.
