Highlassies take two from Ranger

The McLennan Highlassies swept the Ranger Lady Rangers on Saturday afternoon in Ranger.

McLennan run-ruled the Lady Rangers 14-1 in the first game with Ashley Mills getting the win in the circle.

The Highlassies began the scoring with four runs in the top of the first. Amber Mills drew a leadoff walk and Natali Duron singled. Taylor Davis then singled, scoring Mills. Sevanah Campos followed with a fielder's choice, putting Davis out at second. Courtney Mica walked to load the bases. Kaymee Gooden singled to score Duron and Campos. Mica then scored on a Ranger error.

McLennan scored three runs in the second. Amber Mills and Duron walked. Davis followed with a fielder's choice, putting Duron out. Abby White followed with a single to score Mills. Mica then reached safely on an error, bringing Davis and White in to score.

The Highlassies added one run in the third as Amber Mills bunted for a single, moved to second on a groundout by Duron and came around to score on a single by Davis.

Ranger's only run came in the bottom of the third as Katie Craig singled, moved to second on the walk of Samantha Vasquez, advanced to third on an overthrow and scored on an error.

McLennan continued to pull away with two runs in the fourth. Campos led off with a triple and scored on a bunt by Mica. Mica then stole second and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Gooden.

The Highlassies rounded out the scoring with four runs in the fifth. Alyssa Reyes walked but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Leeza Valdez. Davis followed with a single. White singled to score Valdez, and Davis scored on a single by Campos. Mica and Gooden both walked, bringing White in to score. Campos then scored on a groundout by Darian Sanchez.

McLennan won the nightcap 4-1 with Mills picking up her second win of the day.

Vasquez' home run in the bottom of the first was the only Ranger run of the game.

McLennan tied the game with a run in the top of the fifth as Gooden walked, stole second and third, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Amber Mills.

The Highlassies sealed the win with three runs in the seventh on a Duron double and back-to-back home runs by Davis and White.
