Highlassies sweep Howard on opening day

The McLennan Highlassies opened the 2016 season with a sweep of Howard this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.

The Highlassies defeated the Hawks 10-9 in game one with Vannessa Castro getting the win in the circle. Angelina Camacho led McLennan at the plate, going 3-3 with a triple and three RBIs. Marisa Flores, Victoria Gonzales and Dariann Resendez recorded a double and two RBIs each. Makayla Hernandez picked up one RBI.

McLennan run-ruled Howard 9-1 in the nightcap with Chanlynn Turner picking up the win. Serena Saldivar led the Highlassies at the plate going 3-4 with a double. Hernandez was 2-3 with an RBI. Flores and Andrea Gonzales recorded a hit and an RBI each. Victoria Gonzales recorded a hit and two RBIs, while Theresa Gonzales recorded a hit and an RBI. Kayleigh Williams was 2-3 with a double and two RBIs.
