The McLennan Highlassies won a game and lost a game Friday at the Temple Tournament.
McLennan opened the day with a 6-0 shut out of the Labette Cardinals with Chanlynn Turner picking up the win.
The Highlassies scored two runs in the bottom of the first. Dariann Resendez drew a lead-off walk and Marisa Flores was safe at first on an error. Theresa Gonzales walked to load the bases. Victoria Gonzales followed with a double to score Resendez and Flores. Theresa Gonzales then scored on a double by Andrea Gonzales.
McLennan added a run in the second as Faith Aguilar singled, stole second and third, and scored on a fly out by Resendez.
The Highlassies' final two runs came in the bottom of the sixth. Mikayla Young reached first safely on an error but was thrown out at second. Haley Webre followed with a single. Webre then scored on a home run by Rachel Ripley.
McLennan fell to the 11th-ranked Blinn Lady Buccaneers 7-6 in game two. Vannessa Castro took the loss in the circle.
Blinn began the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the first. Nicole Garcia walked and Meghann Wrinkle doubled. Katie Andrie then singled to score Garcia. Wrinkle scored on a squeeze bunt by Lauren Silver. Katy Sawyer then singled to score Andrie.
The Highlassies got on the board with one run in the second as Victoria Gonzales singled, moved to second on a ground out by Andrea Gonzales and scored on a single by Serena Saldivar.
McLennan tied the game with two runs in the third as Flores and Theresa Gonzales both singled and scored on a double by Victoria Gonzales.
The Lady Buccaneers took the lead with four runs in the fourth. Tori Gleason was safe at first on a Highlassie error and Seeley Orsak singled. Garcia followed with a home run. Andrie then drew a walk and scored on a double by Jordin Wilkins.
The Highlassies rounded out the scoring with three runs in the top of the sixth. Angelina Camacho and Resendez both singled, and Flores drew a walk to load the bases. Theresa Gonzales grounded out, bringing Camacho in to score. Victoria Gonzales then doubled to score Resendez and Flores.
On Saturday, the Highlassies fell to fifth-ranked Salt Lake 7-1 and Angelina 7-5.
