McLennan Softball sweeps Cisco doubleheader, wins series

McLennan Softball closed out its four-game conference series with Cisco with a doubleheader sweep of the Lady Wranglers this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark. The two wins today give McLennan the 3-1 series win over Cisco.

McLennan shutout Cisco 6-0 in the opener. Gracy Crafts picked up the complete-game win in the circle, allowing just three hits while striking out 11.

Caitlyn Wong put McLennan on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the first.

Two McLennan runs scored in the second. Melayna Lopez was hit by the pitch and scored on a triple by Julia Herzinger. Herzinger then scored on a Cisco error.

McLennan added another run in the third as Wong walked, moved to second on a ground out by Sidney Campion and scored on a single by Lopez.

Back-to-back home runs by Ka'Lyn Watson and Wong in the fifth rounded out the scoring.

McLennan defeated Cisco 12-8 in the night cap with Reese Taylor getting the win.

Cisco scored a run in the top of the first as Maddie Murley reached on an error and scored on a single by Alexis Magallanez.

McLennan took the lead with six runs in the bottom of the first. Lopez reached on an error and Wong walked. Campion followed with a single to scored Lopez. Watson walked and Herzinger doubled to score Wong and Campion. Kenzie Chambers followed with a single to score Watson, and Mackenzie Adam singled to score Herzinger.

The Lady Wranglers responded with six runs in the top of the second to take the lead 7-6 lead. Bailey Buck and Shayla Hopkins both singled. Kadee Luna then doubled to scored Buck. An Ashley Vinton fielder's choice put Hopkins out at the plate. Luna scored on a fly out by Peyton Vasquez. Murley singled and Lauren Aleman reached on an error. Magallanez followed with a single to score Vinton and Murley. Alyssa Hickman reached on an error, and Buck doubled to score Aleman.

McLennan regained the lead with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Lopez and Wong hit back-to-back home runs. Campion singled and Watson followed with a two-run homer.

Cisco's final run came in the top of the fifth as Luna doubled and scored on a single by Vasquez.

McLennan rounded out the scoring with two runs in the sixth. Herzinger hit a solo home run. Chambers then singled, stole second and scored on a single by Kadyn Trochim.

Conference play continues for McLennan Wednesday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Grayson.
