Highlanders earn JUCO All-Tournament honors
Three McLennan Highlanders were named to the 2025 JUCO World Series All-Tournament Team.
Sophomore shortstop Sherman Johnson was named an All-Tournament selection and the Jay W. Tolman Outstanding Defensive Player. Johnson had a .333 batting average during the tournament with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI and nine runs scored. He also had a 0.889 fielding percentage with 12 putouts, four assists and three double plays. Johnson is transferring to the University of Arkansas
Sophomore centerfielder Owen Smith had a .550 tournament batting average with one double, two home runs and 14 RBI. He had a .909 fielding percentage with 10 putouts. He will transfer to the University of New Orleans.
Catcher Deiten Lachance had a .409 tournament average with two doubles, one home run and eight RBI. He recorded 49 putouts and two assists behind the plate. He will transfer to the University of Oklahoma.
