The McLennan Highlanders swept the Blinn Buccaneers in a doubleheader this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
The opening game was a pitcher's duel with the Highlanders coming out with the 2-1 victory. Logan Harris picked up the win on the mound in relief of starter Carson Bailey.
Blinn's only run came in the top of the fourth as Zachary Tuxhorn doubled and score on a single by Drew Britton.
McLennan's two runs in the bottom of the sixth sealed the win. Samuel Jenkins, Hayden Crites and Brandon Dickinson all walked. Brody Chyr followed with a single to score Jenkins and Crites.
It was all Highlanders in the nightcap as the squad picked up the 11-1 run-rule win over the Buccaneers. Sam Elrich picked up the win on the mound.
McLennan scored two in the first as Brennon Seigler walked and scored on a triple by Cooper McEnroe. McEnroe then scored on a throwing error.
The Highlanders added a run in the third as Michael Peavy walked, stole second, advanced to third on a fly out by Nathan Tobin and scored on a single by Abdiel Hernandez Sostre.
Three more McLennan runs scored in the fourth. Brett Haggerty walked and Tobin singled. Hernandez Sostre followed with a three-run homer.
Another two Highlander runs scored in the fifth. Jenkins singled and McEnroe was hit by the pitch. Both runners stole a bases. Jenkins scored on a balk and McEnroe scored on a triple by Peavy.
Blinn's run scored in the sixth as Drew Britton doubled and score on a single by Kason Atkins.
McLennan scored one in the sixth. Tobin drew a lead-off walk, advanced on a passed ball and stole third before scoring on a single by Peyton Firgens.
Haggerty homered in the seventh, and Firgens led off the eighth with the walk-off home run for the run-rule win.
