Highlanders sink Dolphins
he McLennan Highlanders picked up their first road win of the season with a 12-10 victory over the Alvin Dolphins this afternoon. Jordan Stribling picked up the win in the circle, and AJ Grizzaffi got the save.
McLennan began the scoring with a run in the top of the first. Brennon Seigler was hit by the pitch to lead off the inning. Seigler stole second and Peyton Firgens walked. Seigler stole third and Firgens was caught stealing. Seigler then scored on a sac fly by Cooper McEnroe.
Alvin scored two in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Dylan Marbury singled and scored on Ronnie Rouse's home run.
The Highlanders tied took the lead with two runs in the third. Seigler singled and Firgens walked. Both runners stole a base, and Seigler scored on a single by McEnroe. Firgens then scored on a ground out by Firgens.
The Dolphins tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third. Nayden Ramirez and Rouse both singled. Jackson Castillo then singled to score Ramirez.
Three Alvin runs in the fourth gave the Dolphins the lead. Jayce Richardson and Justin Garcia Hernandez both walked and advanced on a sac bunt by Ivan Marron. Marbury also walked, loading the bases. Asa Sampson walked to score Richardson, and Ramirez singled to score Garcia Hernandez and Marbury.
McLennan went back on top with six runs in the sixth. Ramon Carona and Abdiel Hernandez Sostre both walked, and Seigler singled to load the bases. Firgens and McEnroe also walked, scoring Carona and Hernandez Sostre. Chyr followed with a grand slam.
The Dolphins added two runs in the seventh. Ramirez and Rouse both singled. Castillo then reached on an error, scoring Ramirez. Rouse and Castillo advanced on a sac bunt by Sam Taylor, and Rouse scored on a sac fly by Richardson.
The Highlanders tacked on three runs in the eighth. Firgens singled and advanced on a wild pitch. McEnroe walked, and Nathan Tobin doubled to score Firgens. Samuel Jenkins' fielder's choice put McEnroe out at home. Tobin then score on a wild pitch, and Brady Quinn singled to score Jenkins.
Alvin rounded out the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the eighth as Sampson walked and scored on a Ramirez home run.
