The McLennan Highlanders cruised to a doubleheader sweep of the Howard Hawks this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
The Highlanders shut out the Hawks 3-0 in the opener with Carson Bailey going the distance on the mound for the win.
All three runs were scored in the second inning. Brady Quinn drew a lead-off walk and score on Sam Jenkins' homer. Bryce Hampton then singled and scored on a double by Peyton Firgens.
McLennan got a 10-0 run-rule shut-out victory in the nightcap with Griffin Lewis picking up the win.
McLennan scored two runs in the bottom of the third. Brennon Seigler and Firgens both singled. Seigler came in to score on passed ball. Cooper McEnroe then singled to score Firgens.
The Highlanders broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh. Hampton walked, Seigler singled and Firgens also walked, loading the bases. Cooper McEnroe followed with a grand slam. Brody Chur walked, stole second and advance to third on a balk. Brandon Dickinson also walked. Chyr then scored on a double steal.
McLennan score three in the bottom of the eighth in exciting fashion. Jenkins walked and Firgens doubled. McEnroe followed with an in-the-park, walk-off home run.
