Highlanders slip to Howard
The McLennan Highlanders came short in today's series finale with Howard, falling to the Hawks 6-3. Sam Elrich took the loss on the mound.
Sam Distel led off the top of the first with a home run to put Howard on the board.
The Hawks added three runs in the second. Andrew Lind doubled and Ethan Guzman reached on an error. Lincoln Schroeder singled to load the bases. Distel then reached on an error, scoring Lind. Guzman scored on a balk and Schroeder scored on a sac fly by David Hernandez.
Sam Jenkins home run in the fifth put McLennan on the board.
Howard added two runs in the seventh. Colton Klapprodt singled and advanced on a sac bunt by Schroeder. Distel singled to score Klapprodt. Distel move to second on an error, and scored on a single by Hernandez.
Two Highlander runs scored in the eighth. Tyler Ness walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Peyton Firgens and Brennon Seigler both singled, bringing Ness in to score, and Firgens scored on a passed ball.
