Highlanders trounce Tyler
The McLennan Highlanders trounced the Tyler Apaches for a 13-7 non-conference win this afternoon in Tyler.
The Highlanders led off the top of the first with back-to-back home runs by Peyton Firgens and Brennon Seigler. Cooper McEnroe doubled and scored on a double by Tyler Ness. Brady Quinn and Brock Lulewicz both singled, bringing Ness in to score.
McLennan added a run in the second. Firgens was hit by the pitch and advanced to second on an error. Samuel Jenkins and McEnroe both walked, loading the bases. Firgens then scored on a wild pitch.
Tyler got on the board with a run in the bottom of the second. Ben Coke walked and Garrett Hayes singled. Coke then scored on a sac fly by Noah Paddle.
Three more Highlander runs scored in the fourth. McEnroe doubled and Ness was hit by the pitch. Both runners scored on a double by Chyr. Ramon Corona then singled to score Chyr.
The Apaches responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. James Raecek singled, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Hayes singled to score Raecek, but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Paddie. Paddie then stole second, advanced to third and scored on an error.
Tyler added another run in the bottom of the sixth. Raecek and Coke both singled. Raecek then scored on a sac fly by Paddie.
The Apaches cut McLennan's lead to one with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Noah Felton was hit by the pitch, stole second and advanced to third on a ground out by David Lillis. Micah Roberts singled to score Felton, and Raecek followed with a two-run homer.
McLennan responded with three runs in the top of the eighth. Seigler and Sam Jenkins both singled. Ness singled to score Seigler, and Quinn was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Chyr followed with a single to score Jenkins and Ness.
The Highlanders rounded out the scoring with two runs in the ninth. Seigler singled and Jenkins walked. Miles Ghossein walked, loading the bases. Ness then singled to score Seigler and Jenkins.
