Highlanders sweep Cisco
The No. 10 McLennan Highlanders closed out the regular season this afternoon with a doubleheader sweep of the Cisco Wranglers to complete a series sweep.
The Highlanders got the 11-1 run-rule victory in the opener with Hawk Bowers getting the win on the mound.
McLennan scored five in the first. Sam Jenkins and Brennon Seigler both walked. Brody Chyr singled to score Jenkins, and Seigler scored on a fielder's choice that put Chyr out at second. Brady Quinn was hit by the pitch. Brandon Dickinson singled to score McEnroe, and Ramon Corona singled to score Quinn and Dickinson.
Another Highlander run scored in the bottom of the second inning. Seigler and Chyr both singled. Seigler then scored on a sac fly by McEnroe.
Cisco's only run came in the top of the third. Melendez singled and Jax Legrand walked. Melendez advanced to third when Forsell hit into a double play and scored on a passed ball.
Quinn led off with bottom of the third with a solo home run for McLennan.
The Highlanders added three in the fourth. Jenkins walked and stole second. Chyr singled, and McEnroe singled to score Jenkins. Tyler Ness also singled, scoring Chyr, and Dickinson singled to score McEnroe.
McLennan sealed the run rule in the bottom of the fifth as Bryce Hampton doubled and scored on a double by Jenkins.
In the regular-season finale, the Highlanders held on for a 6-5 win. Jacob Evans picked up the win on the mound.
McLennan scored one in the first. Jenkin was hit by the pitch but out on a fielder's choice by Seigler. Chyr and McEnroe both walked, loading the bases, and Nathan Tobin walked to score Seigler.
Cisco took the lead with two runs in the fourth. Lando Belcher reached on an error and Tanner Wagner singled. Blaine Lucas was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Austin Owens then singled to score Belcher and Wagner.
The Highlanders went back on top with three runs in the sixth. McEnroe singled and advanced on a ground out by Ness. Hayden Crites walked, and Quinn single to score McEnroe. Hampton also singled, scoring Crites, and Quinn scored on a single by Jenkins.
The Wranglers took the lead with three runs in the top of the eighth. Forsell reached on an error, and Wagner followed with a two-run homer. Owens then doubled and scored on a single by Hayden Tanksley.
McLennan responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to steal the win. Hampton reached on an error but was out on a fielder's choice by Jenkins. Chyr singled, and McEnroe doubled to score Jenkins and Chyr.
