Highlanders stumble against Midland
The McLennan Highlanders fell to the Midland Chaparrals 7-6 this afternoon in the Southwest District Super Regional. Logan Harris took the loss on the mound.
Midland scored three runs in the top of the first. Bammer Maes walked, advanced on a passed and scored on a single by Jorge Gil. Stevyn Andrachick singled and Gil scored on a double by Caiden Olivas. Cole Neatherlin then reached on an error, scoring Andrachick.
McLennan got on the board with Brennon Seigler's solo homer in the bottom of the first.
The Highlanders took the lead in the third. Ramon Corona, Bryce Hampton and Sam Jenkins all walked. Seigler followed with the grand slam.
The Chaparrals scored a run in the fourth inning. Brennan McTavish singled and Maes walked. A fielder's choice by Caleb Eager put Maes out at second. Gil then singled to score McTavish.
Midland took the lead in the eighth. McTavish walked and Dylon Myrow singled. Maes followed with a three-run homer.
Corona's solo home run in the bottom of the eighth rounded out the scoring.
