Highlanders remain perfect on season
The McLennan Highlanders opened the Joe White Classic with an 86-77 win over the Navarro Bulldogs Friday in Hillsboro.
The Highlanders took their first double-digit lead two minutes into the second half and led by as many as 18 en route to the victory.
Jerami Grace led the Highlanders with 20 points and Mills added 17. Aundre Jackson and Brian Long scored 15 and 12, respectively.
On Saturday afternoon, the Highlanders defeated the Creating Young Minds Academy Yellowjackets 89-72.
The game was close through the first 10 minutes of play and was tied at 18 with 10:20 remaining in the first half. The Highlanders used an 8-0 run to begin pulling away and led 47-29 at the break.
The Yellowjackets pulled within 10 several times in the second half but were unable to get any closer as McLennan cruised to the easy win.
McLennan hosts Lone Star College-Tomball at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
