Highlander golf tied for 12th at national tournament
The McLennan Highlanders shot 317 to sit tied for 12th place after day one of the NJCAA Division I National Championships at the par-72, 7,360-yard Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa.
Indian Hills is in first place with 298, followed by Wallace State in second with 301 and Iowa Western in third with 306.
Sophomore Ryan Beatty shot 76 to lead the Highlanders and is tied for 13th place.
Other McLennan scores: Andrew Hans, tied for 40th, 79; Chris Low, tied for 54th, 81; Hunter Shattuck, tied for 54th, 81; and Bruce Popp, tied for 90th, 85.

The tournament will continue with the second of four rounds this morning.
