Highlander Golf ranked 17th in NJCAA poll

The McLennan Highlander golf team is ranked 17th in the first NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Rankings of the fall.

Central Alabama is ranked first, followed by Midland (Texas) in second and New Mexico in third. Hutchinson (Kansas) and Indian Hills (Iowa) round out the top five.

Both Midland and New Mexico compete with the Highlanders in Region V. Other regional opponents in the poll include: Odessa (seventh), Western Texas (11th) and Ranger (13th).

The Highlanders and Odessa will compete in a match-play event Sept. 30 at the Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene.

The next NJCAA rankings will be released Oct. 17.
