Highlander golfers finish in fourth place at Southwest Championship

The McLennan Highlanders shot 306-285-288 – 879 to sit in fourth place following the opening day of the NJCAA Southwest Championship at The Rawls Course in Lubbock.
 
Midland is in first place 300-272-284 – 856, followed by Odessa in second with 301-280-291 – 872 and Western Texas in third with 298-285-292 – 875.
 
Hayes Hamilton shot 74-68-74 – 216 to lead the Highlanders and finish tied for fourth place.
 
Other McLennan scores: Ulrik Joergensen, tied for eighth, 76-72-71 – 219; Kevin Yang, 17th, 76-72-74 – 222; Holden Hamilton, 23rd, 83-74-69 – 226; Landry Schmoker, tied for 26th, 80-72-77 – 229; and James Perry, 28th, 80-73-77 – 230.
 
Other team scores: Ranger, fifth, 311-288-301 – 900; and Blinn, sixth, 320-298-313 – 931.
 
Scores from the Southwest Championship will be combined with scores from the District Championship, being played April 26-27 in Fort Worth, to determine the four qualifying teams for the NJCAA National Championship.

Hayes Hamilton and Ulrik Joergensen were named to the All-Tournament Team.
