Highlanders, Bignell claim championships

The McLennan Highlanders claimed the Buccaneer Fall Invitational Championship today in Brenham with a score of 283-279-288 – 850.
Blinn was second with 292-288-277 – 857, followed by Tyler in third with 301-294-288 – 883.

The Highlanders' Abe Bignell shot 73-67-69 – 209 to claim the individual championship. Luke Beckman (69-74-72 –215), James Ilsley (70-73-73 – 215) and Robert Gonzalez (72-68-75 – 215) all finished tied for third. Caleb Friesenhahn was 12th  72-71-78 – 221 and Merrett Boyles was tied for 13th with 73-73-76 – 222.

Other team scores: North Central, fourth, 315-309-303 – 927; Jacksonville B, fifth, 307-309-313 – 929; Jacksonville A, sixth, 315-308-309 – 932; Blinn B, seventh, 318-307-309 – 934; Collin, eighth, 322-303-314 – 939; and Blinn C, ninth, 326-314-321 – 961.

The Highlanders travel to Newton, Kansas, next week for the National Preview at San Creek Station.
