Highlassies run rule Ranger, advance to regional semifinals

The McLennan Highlassies began their run in the Region V North Tournament with a 13-1 run-rule victory over the Ranger Lady Rangers Friday evening at The Ballfields at Craig Ranch in McKinney.
Kayleigh Williams picked up the win for the Highlassies in the circle, allowing only three hits in five innings.
McLennan jumped out early, scoring 11 runs in the top of the first inning. Dariann Resendez drew a lead-off walk, Marisa Flores singled and Theresa Gonzales walked to load the bases. Serena Saldivar singled to score Resendez. Elizabeth Svienty drew a walk, bringing Flores in to score. Andrea Gonzales also walked, scoring Theresa Gonzales. Haley Webre followed with a single to score Saldivar and Svienty. Angelina Camacho hit a fielder's choice, putting Andrea Gonzales out at the plate. Resendez followed with a single to score Webre. Flores reached first safely on an error, bringing Camacho in to score. Theresa Gonzales then singled to score Resendez and Flores. Victoria Gonzales also singled. Saldivar followed with a double, scoring Theresa and Victoria Gonzales.
The Highlassies added a run in the second as Andrea Gonzales walked, moved around to third on a bunt single by Webre and scored on a single by Resendez.
McLennan's final run came in the top of the fourth as Resendez reached first and advanced to second on an error, moved to third on a single by Flores and scored on a single by Victoria Gonzales.
Ranger's only run came in the bottom of the fourth as Reise Powell singled, moved around to third on a Shelby Neartherlin double and scored on a ground out by Madi Stark.
