The McLennan Highlassies softball team is ranked 11th in the first NJCAA Division I Softball Poll of the season. The Highlassies have an overall record of 18-8 and are 2-2 in conference play.
Butler (Kansas) is ranked first with a 22-0 record followed by Chipola (Florida) in second with a 30-1 record and Florida SouthWestern State in third at 28-3. Central Florida (25-6) and Salt Lake (Utah) with an 11-4 record round out the top five.
McLennan is the only Region V North squad named in the poll. Midland (14-3) at ninth and Odessa (14-9) at 18th are the only Region V West schools in the poll. Other ranked Texas schools, all from Region XIV, are: Angelina (24-4) at eighth, San Jacinto (19-11) at 12th, Trinity Valley (17-7) at 14th and Tyler (17-10) at 15th. Galveston from Region XIV and Howard from Region V West are receiving votes.
