The McLennan Softball squad picked up another conference-series sweep with a pair of wins over the Weatherford Coyotes this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
McLennan dominated game one with Cheyenne Floyd picking up the 8-0 win in the circle, allowing just two hits in the five-inning game,
The first three McLennan runs came in the bottom of the first. Ka'Lyn Watson led off with a double and scored on a double by Erin Plunkett. Caitlyn Wong then singled to score Plunkett. Hailey Hudson doubled, and Wong scored on a ground out by Julia Herzinger.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the second as Maddie Saven and Watson both doubled and scored on a double by Plunkett.
McLennan added a run in the third as Herzinger tripled and scored on a double by Jenny Robison.
Another McLennan run sored in the fourth. Watson reached on an error and Plunkett singled. A fielder's choice by Wong put Plunkett out at second. Watson then scored on a fielder's choice by Hudson.
McLennan sealed the run rule in the fifth as Saven reached on an error and scored on the walk-off triple by Sidney Campion.
Game two proved to be a much closer contest with McLennan pulling out the 6-4 victory. Hudson got the win in the circle.
Weatherford began the scoring with a run in the top of the first. Sierra Nixon and Lencia Powell both singled. Charlee Horton then singled to score Nixon.
McLennan took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Watson reached and advanced around to third on a Coyote error. A sacrifice fly by Plunkett then brought Watson in to score. Wong walked and Rutherford reached on an error. Robison then singled to score Wong.
Two more McLennan errors scored in the second as Watson doubled and scored on a Plunkett home run.
The Coyotes added a run in the top of the third. Annabelle Guay reached on an error and Charlee Horton singled. A fielder's choice by Olivia Gutierrez put Horton out at second. Guay then scored on an error.
McLennan scored two more runs in the sixth as Campion tripled and scored on another Plunkett home run.
Weatherford rounded out the scoring with two runs in the top of the seventh. Nixon walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Powell. Guay then single to score Powell.
McLennan continues conference play Wednesday, traveling to Vernon for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
