No. 6 Highlanders complete undefeated weekend with win over Chipola

The No. 6 McLennan Highlanders closed out an undefeated weekend in the Battle on the Bosque with an 11-7 win over the Chipola Lady Indians. Taryn Batterton picked up the win in the circle.
Chipola scored five runs in the top of the first. Diana Arcay, Lexie Spooner and Paula Ocrospoma all walked. Erica Ramsey singled to score Arcay, and EmmaLee Essary followed with a grand slam.
McLennan got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the first. Madison Garcia and Mickayla Tosch both singled, but Garcia was out advancing to third. Trinity Allen walked and Kyla Heine singled, loading the bases. Katia Reyes doubled to score Tosch and Allen.
Two more Highlander runs scored in the third. Heine was hit by the pitch and scored on a triple by Reyes. Madison Hornback then singled to score Reyes.
McLennan took the lead with runs in the fourth. Lilly Rocha was hit by the pitch and replace by pinch runner Maddie Moore. Garcia tripled to score Moore, and Tosch followed with a two-run homer. Allen then walked and scored on a triple by Heine, and Heine scored on a double by Reyes.
The final two Highlander runs scored in the sixth as Anysli Lawson walked and scored on a Rocha home run.
Chipola rounded out the scoring with two runs in the seventh. Arcay and Amari Brown both singled, and Spooner walked to load the bases. Arcay scored on a sacrifice fly by Ocrospoma, and Brown scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramsey.
