Five Highlanders earn NFCA All-Region honors
Five McLennan Softball players earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NJCAA Division I West All-Region honors for the 2024 season. Sophomores Katia Reyes and Taylor Meier along with freshmen Trinity Allen and Ellie Loveless were named to the First Team while freshman Madison Garcia was a Second Team selection.
Reyes, a shortstop/pitcher from Weslaco, played in 64 of the Highlanders 65 games, recording a .426 batting average with 15 doubles and five triples. She led the team with 25 home runs and 101 RBI, and had a .974 fielding percentage.
Meier, an outfielder from Lake Jackson played in 60 games this spring, recording a .497 average with nine doubles, five triples and one home run. She led the team with 50 stolen bases and had a .967 fielding percentage and a .567 on-base percentage.
Allen, a first baseman from Cypress, played in 63 of the Highlanders 65 games, recording a .543 batting average with a team-high 27 doubles, four triples, 24 home runs and 97 RBI along with a .997 fielding percentage and a .631 on-base percentage.
Loveless, a designated player/utility from Washington, Oklahoma, played in 48 games, recording a .458 batting average with 11 doubles, one triple, 13 home runs and 45 RBI. She had a. .921 fielding percentage and a .524 on-base percentage.
Garcia, an outfielder from Crosby, played in 56 games, recording a .475 batting average with six doubles, a team-high 13 triples, one home run and 37 RBI. She had a .978 fielding percentage and a .508 on-base percentage.
