Highlander Softball #1 in the nation

The McLennan Softball squad climbed four spots to #1 in this week's NJCAA Division I Rankings. The Highlanders boast an overall record of 40-5 and are 22-2 in conference play.
 
Florida Southwestern, the previous #1, fell to #2 with a record of 39-5. Indian River State (Florida) remained at #3 with a 36-5 record. Northwest Florida State (50-2) fell two spots to #4. Grayson (Texas) moved up a spot to #5 with a record of 41-5
 
Other Texas teams ranked include: Trinity Valley, down one to #6, 45-7; Grayson, down one to #6, 37-5; Odessa, holding at #9, 31-4; Temple, up one to #11, 34-11; Paris, steady at #15, 42-8; Weatherford, up one to #17, 33-9; and Tyler, up one to #22, 32-14. Midland and Galveston are receiving votes.
 
#1 McLennan will host #17 Weatherford for a conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bosque River Ballpark.
