No. 5 Highlanders & No. 21 Coyotes split doubleheader
The No. 5 McLennan Highlanders and No. 21 Weatherford Coyotes split this afternoon's conference doubleheader at Bosque River Ballpark.
McLennan came back to win the opener 11-4 with Natalie Klenda getting the win.
The Coyotes scored one in the first. Jackie Divine singled and Joni Jackson was hit by the pitch. Karlie Landrum then singled to score Divine.
Three more Weatherford run scored in the second. Aofia Noa singled and advanced on a sac bunt by Janae Trojacek. Adeline Glatch was hit by the pitch, and Divine doubled to score Noa. Alex Graham then doubled to score Glatch and Divine.
McLennan put one on the board in the bottom of the second. Delanie Roeder and Rylie Marquart were both hit by the pitch, and Karaline Smitherman walked. Roeder then scored on a sac fly by Chayne Allen.
Another Highlander run scored in the second as Lily King singled, advanced on a ground out by Tayen Allen and scored on a single by Brooke Fechner.
McLennan scored nine in the sixth to round out the scoring. Fechner and Marquart both singled, and Smitherman walked to load the bases. Chayne Allen singled to score Fechner. Kaelani Rogers followed with a double to score Chayne Allen, Marquart and Smitherman. Jordan Tosch replaced Rogers at second, and Macie Jansky doubled. Tayen Allen singled to score Jansky and Tosch. Fechner followed with a two-run homer. Roeder then tripled and scored on a single by Marquart.
Weatherford took game two 3-1.
The Highlanders scored one in the bottom half of the first as Chayne Allen walked, stole second and scored on a single by Traci Lowry.
The Coyotes took the lead with three runs in the second. Rian Coon led off with a double and scored on a double by Mabri Warren. Glatch followed with a home run.
