Highlanders complete series sweep of Cisco
The eighth-ranked McLennan closed out the four-game series sweep of the Cisco Wranglers with a pair of wins today in Ranger.
McLennan shut out Cisco 14-0 in game one with Olivia Garrett getting the win in the circle.
The Highlanders jumped out early with four runs in the top of the first. Chayne Allen and Traci Lowry drew back-to-back walks. Kaelani Rogers followed with a three-run homer. Tayen Allen singled and advanced to second on a ground out by Brooke Fechner. Delanie Roeder then doubled to score Tayen Allen.
Five more McLennan runs scored in the third. Tayen Allen singled and advanced on a sac bunt by Fechner. Roeder walked and Rylie Marquart singled to load the bases. Smitherman doubled to score Tayen Allen and Roeder. Chayne Allen singled to score Marquart, and Lowry doubled to score Smitherman and Chayne Allen.
McLennan closed out the scoring with five runs in the fifth. Marquart led off with a single and Jayden Sadler reached on an error. Lowry doubled to score Marquart, and Rogers doubled to score Sadler and Lowry. Tayen Allen followed with a two-run homer.
In the finale, the Highlanders won 9-1 in six innings with Natalie Klenda getting the win.
McLennan began the scoring with a run in the top of the first as Fechner doubled and score on a double by Lowry.
Cisco tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning. Leah Sommerville led off with a single and advanced around to third on a sac bunt by Emily Turner and ground out by Katlyn Clark. Paige Stall then singled to score Somerville.
The Highlanders took the lead with four runs in the fourth. Rogers walked, Tayen Allen was hit by the pitch and Marquart singled to load the bases. Roeder followed with a grand slam.
Another McLennan run scored in the fifth. Sadler doubled and Rogers singled. Sadler then scored on a ground out by Tayen Allen.
Three Highlander runs scored in the top of the sixth. Roeder and Lillian Jones both walked. Fechner doubled to score Roeder, and Sadler singled. Jones score on a single by Rogers, and Fechner scored on a sac fly by Macie Jansky.
