Five McLennan athletes, two teams earn national academic awards

Five McLennan Community College athletes were among 1,800 student-athletes from across the nation named to the NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards list released today.
 
Allison Flores (women's golf) and Andrew Sanchez (baseball) received the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement for a GPA between 3.80-3.99. Justice Crisp (women's basketball), Aries Ramirez (women's golf) and Brandon Wilkins (men's golf) received the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement for GPAs between 3.60-3.79.
 
Both the men's and women's golf teams were named NJCAA All-Academic Teams. To qualify, teams must hold an overall team GPA above 3.0. The Highlanders recorded a team GPA of 3.19 and the Highlassies had a team GPA of 3.09.
