In a game that featured 10 lead changes and three ties, the McLennan Highlassies fell to the No. 15 Blinn Buccaneers 80-76 on the road in Brenham.
McLennan dominated the first half, leading 27-16 at the end of the first quarter and 40-30 at intermission. Blinn began to rally in the third, trimming the McLennan led to three heading into the final period, 54-51. It was close throughout the fourth quarter with Blinn edging out the Highlassies in the final minute.
Ahlura Lofton led the Highlassies with 16 points and Brielle Dorsey added 13. McKenzie Piper and Miannah Little scored 11 points each.
The Highlassies returns to action Friday, hosting LSU-Eunice at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Highlanders against Tribulation Prep at 7:30 p.m.
