McLennan Highlassies No. 9 in latest rankings

The McLennan Highlassies, with an overall record of 19-2, moved up one spot to No. 9 in this week's NJCAA Division I Basketball Rankings.

The top seven teams remained the same: South Georgia Tech, No. 1; Eastern Florida State, No. 2; Northwest Florida State, No. 3; Blinn (Texas), No. 4; Southern Idaho, No. 5; Trinity Valley (Texas), No. 6 and Gulf Coast State (Florida). No. 7.

Collin, McLennan's conference rival, also moved up one spot this week to No. 8, followed by McLennan at No. 9 and Jones (Mississippi) at No. 10. Eastern Arizona, the previous No. 8, fell to No. 14 this week.

Grayson, a conference opponent of McLennan and Collin, also moved up one spot to No. 23, while New Mexico, a regional opponent, fell eight spots to No. 25.

The Highlassies begin the second round of conference play Wednesday, hosting Hill at 5 p.m. at The Highlands.
