McLennan women halt Hill

The McLennan women's basketball squad picked up a nice 77-55 road win this afternoon, downing the Hill Rebels
 
Hill led early at before a Charravia Smith tied the game with an up-and-under shot for McLennan. Taniya Cruthird's 3-pointer from the corner less than a minute later put McLennan on top 7-4, and the squad never trailed again. The Rebels kept the game close for the next five minutes, trailing 14-12 with 2:35 to go in the first. McLennan began to pull away with a 12-0 highlighted by five points from Trinity Butler and led 24-16 at the end of the first.
 
Hill rallied early in the second, cutting the lead back to two at 24-22 with 6:53 to play n the quarter. McLennan responded with a 7-0 run, including four from Smith, to go up 31-22. The squad continued to push and extended the lead to 12 at the break, 41-28.
 
McLennan held a 10-point cushion at 48-38 with 6:03 to go in the third when the squad began to push. A jumper by Nevaeh Otis started a 6-0 run, extending the lead to 14, 54-38, and it would remain a 14-point lead at the end of the quarter, 58-44.
 
Inf the fourth, McLennan turned up the heat. Leading by 15 at 61-46, an 8-0 run capped by a Charnelle Hoof bucket extended the lead to 23 at 61-46 with just over six minutes to play. The squad cruised the rest of the way, holding off a late Hill rally for the lop-sided win.
 
Charravia Smith led McLennan with 16 points. Nevaeh Otis and Trinity Butler scored 12 and 10, respectively.
