Highlanders sweep Cougars

The McLennan Highlanders swept the Collin Cougars 3-0 this afternoon in conference play at The Highlands.
 
In the opening set, the Highlanders went up by three early before extending the lead to five at 10-5. Collin cut the lead to two a couple times before the two teams traded points down the stretch before McLennan pulled away for the 25-17 win.
 
The Highlanders momentum carried into the second set. The teams were tied at eight when McLennan began to slowly build a lead to six, 17-11. The Highlanders held the Cougars off and took it 25-19.
 
Collin commanded the momentum in the third set, leading by as much as four points. It would be a 15-12 Cougar lead when McLennan began to make its move. The Highlanders rallied to tied the game at 16 and battle the rest of the way for the 25-21 victory to secure the sweep.
 
McLennan travels to Baytown Monday for a non-conference match at 5 p.m.
