#17 Highlanders shutout #5 Weatherford
The 17th-ranked McLennan Highlanders shutout the #5 Weatherford Coyotes 5-0 this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark in the semifinal round of the Region V Tournament. The win puts the Highlanders in Tuesday's championship game at 5 p.m.
Kade Bing picked up the win on the mound for McLennan, allowing the Coyotes just two hits in six innings.
The Highlanders scored two runs in the first. Mac Rose and Aidan Kuni both reached on an error. Deiten Lachance followed with a single to score Rose. Sam Flores walked, and Owen Smith singled to score Kuni.
Another Highlander run scored in the third. Smith singled and Walker Freeman was hit by the pitch. Both runners stole a base, and Smith scored on a ground out by Landon Underhill.
The final two McLennan runs scored in the fourth. Rose hit a solo home run to left field. Kuni then walked, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Lachance.
