McLennan Softball splits a pair of games today a at Bosque River Ballpark.
Southern Idaho came from behind to take the early game over McLennan 6-5.
McLennan began the scoring with a run in the top of the first as Celeste Aguilar singled and scored on a double by Erin Plunkett.
Southern Idaho tied the game with Saige Nielsen's home run in the bottom of the inning.
McLennan responded with three runs in the top of the second. Riley Rutherford reached on an error and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jalie Neff. Madelyn McKinnon singled, and Chesnee Faile followed with a three-run homer.
The final McLennan run came in the top of the seventh. Rachel Wicker singled but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Sydney Kirby. Plunkett then triple to score Kirby.
Southern Idaho stole the win with five runs in the bottom of the second. Ashlyn Bailey reached on an error and was replaced by pinch runner Reagan Rex. Taya Manzanares singled, and Tasha Hokanson followed with a double to score Rex and Manzanares. Nielsen then singled to score Hokanson. Gracie Tentinger followed with the walk-off home run, scoring two.
McLennan bounced back into the win column with a 12-3 run-rule win in the afternoon game. Makenzi Jenkins picked up the win in the circle.
Blinn scored two runs in the top of the first as Erynne Castillo singled and scored on Emily Kristynik's home run.
McLennan took the lead with the runs in the bottom of the first. Taylor Meier and Wicker drew back-to-back walks. Meier was caught stealing and Rose Gonzales singled. Wicker scored on a sacrifice fly by Plunkett, and Neff doubled to score Gonzales. Rutherford then tripled to score Neff.
Another McLennan run scored in the second. Meier and Wicker both singled. Meier then scored on a sacrifice fly by Gonzales.
Blinn's final run of the afternoon came in the top of the third. Castillo singled and advanced to third on a ground out by Peyton Welker. Castillo then scored on a sacrifice fly by Kristynik.
Two more McLennan runs scored in the bottom o the third. Kyla Heine singled and Faile walked. Both runners advanced on steals, scoring Heine. Kirby then doubled to score Faile.
McLennan added two runs in the fourth. Wicker led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Plunkett. Plunkett then scored on a double by Rutherford.
Four McLennan runs in the bottom of the fifth sealed the win. Faile doubled and scored on Kirby's double. Meier singled, and Wicker followed with the walk-off three-run homer.
