Highlanders fall at Hill
The McLennan Highlanders fell to the Hill Rebels in three sets today in Hillsboro.
Hill had the opening serve but couldn't get the point. McLennan opened on a 3-0 run and was in control for the majority of the set, leading by as many as four. The Rebels chipped away at the Highlander lead. McLennan led 15-14 but Hill scored the next four points to make it a 18-14 Rebel lead. The Highlanders showed some fight and rallied to tie the game at 19. The squads battled the remainder of the set with Hill getting the 26-24 win.
Momentum seemed to be on the Rebels side in the second set. After exchanging points early, McLennan briefly held the 4-3 lead. Hill went up 6-4 with the next server and continued to pull away, leading by as many at 10 en route to the 25-16 victory.
The Rebels took an early lead at 9-2 in the third set. McLennan wasn't backing down, trailing 23-16 the Highlanders scored four straight points to cut the lead to three, 23-20, but couldn't get any closer. Hill took the set 25-20 to take the match.
McLennan hosts Navarro at 7 p.m. Monday in a non-conference match.
