In a topsy-turvy match, the McLennan Highlanders picked up a 3-1 conference victory over the Temple Leopards this afternoon at The Highlands.
McLennan took control of the opening set early, taking a five-point lead at 94. The Highlanders held off the Leopards the rest of the way to take it 25-18.
The second set was back-and-forth before being tied at nine. McLennan began to pull away late and led by six at 21-15. Temple made a small rally late, pulling within three, but the Highlanders held on 25-21.
Temple led the majority of the third set before McLennan tied the set at 21. The two teams battled before the Leopards ultimately took the set 27-25 to deny the Highlanders the sweep.
The momentum swung back to McLennan in the fourth. The Highlanders held Temple at comfortable four-to-five-point lead throughout the set before pulling away late to seal the win 25-18.
McLennan travels to Cisco for a conference match Wednesday at 6 p.m.
